Premier League players have been treated disgracefully by politicians who want to have their cake it and eat it during the coronavirus crisis.

That is according to former Liverpool, Chelsea and England defender Glen Johnson, who said it is ‘bang out of order' the way footballers have been criticised over pay cuts and then asked to return to help lift the nation's morale.

‘I think it's a disgrace - how politicians can say that? You can't make your cake and eat it,' he told Sportsmail. ‘Most people enjoy watching sport whenever it's on and obviously football is a massive part of that. (But) I think it's bang out of order.
