Customer Brett John Cunningham posted the CCTV on Amazon's Facebook page, writing: 'Thank you Amazon for leaving my parcel on the doorstep, START YOUR OWN DROPSHIPPING STORE perfect place for the low life thief to steal it.'

Mr Cunningham, from Dudley, said the only consolation is that the thief would have been dejected to open a £16 USB desk fan.

The clip begins with a delivery driver pulling up in front of Mr Cunningham's driveway.

He gets out of the van into the heavy rain, and clutching a brown box with Amazon branding he walks up to the front door.

He waits about seven seconds for someone to answer before dropping the parcel on the step

After ringing the bell, he waits just over seven seconds for someone to answer before dropping the parcel on the front door step and heading back to the van.

The footage then cuts to half an hour later, when the rain has calmed. Within seconds a man wearing grey jogging bottoms and black jacket runs into Mr Cunningham's driveway.

He heads directly for the front door, stoops down and grabs the parcel. The man immediately runs off with the package in his hand and disappears down the street.

On social media, Becky Mouzer added: 'Delivery issues?! They left it on your doorstep and it got robbed. He didn't even wait long enough for someone to come to the door. Tell them you have it on film.'

While Ryan Middleton said: 'Absolute joke mate.'

Speaking today, Mr Cunningham said: 'The parcel itself wasn't of any great value, it was only a £16 desk fan.

'I guess he was disappointed when he open it, but it was more the principle than anything else, it could have been something worth much more.

'Even if I was in, I don't think I would have had time to answer the door to him anyway for how quick he gave up after knocking the door.

'We were away on holiday in Somerset from Saturday to Tuesday and the delivery attempt was on the Sunday, so I would have been really lucky if it was still to be sitting there on Tuesday when we got back. If that man didn't steal it I'm sure someone else would.'

Mr Cunningham ordered the fan from an eBay seller who appears to have bought the item on Amazon and posted it on, a practice known as 'dropshipping'.

Mr Cunningham added that the eBay seller had not asked him for a safe space and despite trying to contact Amazon himself, they would not speak to him as he hadn't ordered the item directly.

Mr Cunningham said the seller had apologised and offered to send a replacement out to him.

He added that he had sent the footage to West Midlands Police but had had no response yet. The force said it had nothing on its system relating to the incident.

An Amazon spokesman said: 'We have very high standards for our delivery service providers and how they serve customers.

'We are working closely with this provider, who are investigating.'
